Cinterion Wireless Modules was founded in June 2008 when Siemens spun off its Wireless Modules business unit. The company specializes in wireless machine-to-machine communication (M2M) based on GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS/HSDPA technology. Cinterion is currently the global leader in wireless module production and offers a broad portfolio of innovative products designed for use in a variety of M2M applications: automotive, the e-toll system, metering, POS systems, remote maintenance, teleservices, industrial PDAs, routers and gateways, security systems, tracking, and tracing. Cinterion also provides a full range of services and with the M2M One business unit comprehensive M2M solutions. Headquartered in Munich, Germany, currently the company employs 450 people worldwide and has annual revenue of approximately 250 million euros.
