The High-Tech Start-up Fund is a project jointly called into being by the German government, the companies BASF, Deutsche Telekom and Siemens, and the KfW banking group as part of the Partners for Innovation initiative. In all, 262 million will be made available in the next five years, a full 240 million of it from the federal government budget. The High-Tech Start-up Fund invests Venture Capital in young, high potential, technology-oriented companies, that are focusing on the entrepreneurial implementation of high promising results of research. The High-Tech Start-up Fund offers companies up to 500,000 in initial financing, as a combination of equity and subordinated loans at attractive conditions. The founders themselves contribute 20 percent of the funds as equity; ten percent in the case of founders from former East Germany and Berlin. The financing is designed such that the start-ups can avail themselves of other research grants without curtailments. www.high-tech-gruenderfonds.de |
